In the pilot episode, a hurricane threatens the town of Homestead, so it's up to park ranger Russell Varon (Eddie Cibrian, from "Third Watch") to keep both the town's citizens and his family safe. In the middle of the storm, his young daughter, Rose (Ariel Gade) is the only one to see the small lights floating towards the water. Russell really begins to suspect something when his ex-wife, Mariel (Kari Matchett) is found naked in the water the following morning with no memory of what happened during the storm...
As the town of Homestead picks itself up, "creepy" Sheriff Tom Underlay (William Fichtner) - who is married to Russell's ex-wife - suddenly orders the entire area quarantined. Russell starts to investigate the strange goings on and embarks on a fight for the survival of his family, his town, and what might be ultimately... the human race as we know it.
Russell
Father-of-two – with another on the way - Russell Varon is a Florida Everglades Park Ranger. Formerly married to Mariel, he is now expecting his first child with new wife, Larkin Groves. Russell’s expertise as a ranger and marine biologist comes in handy as he and Dave, his brother-in-law, investigate the unusual events taking place in and around Homestead since the hurricane. Sceptical thus far, Russell is starting to think that Dave may have a point about a cover-up in Homestead.
Note :Russell is father to Jesse and Rose, with his ex-wife Mariel. Current husband of Larkin and brother-in-law of Dave.
